στο μπασκετ το αφεντικο ειναι ο βαζελος
οπως στην μπαλα ο γαυρος
αλλα στους οπαδους δεν μας φτανετε
A couple of weeks earlier, Derbyshire had made his Olympiacos debut, coming on from the bench in the first leg of the same quarter final, in Thessalonika, on a night when he received his first taste of the unique spectacle that is Greek club football.
Wailing sirens led the Olympiacos team bus through crowds of PAOK supporters, jammed into the streets around their stadium to intimidate their visitors. Inside the ground, the atmosphere was equally intense. With no away fans allowed to attend the games, travelling teams step into hostile enemy territory.
'I knew a bit about what to expect because I've played around Europe,' said Derbyshire.'But I'd never seen anything like it. There were 40,000 PAOK fans packed in, going crazy. It was more exciting than frightening. But it was a real challenge to play in front of a crowd like that.'We were 1-0 down when I got on and we couldn't find an equaliser. Then it took me two and a half hours to give a drug test afterwards. My nervous system was still on the game.
